Young couple Hynek and Pavla are on the verge of divorce, largely due to Hynek’s meddling mother. When Pavla’s father unexpectedly visits, they pretend their marriage is intact, leading to awkward situations—especially after he lavishly gifts them a new car. Tensions rise further when Pavla learns her father plans his own separation due to a mistress, forcing all parties to confront hidden grievances.

The story of Angela Kennedy Lipská, a middle-aged woman who has just been left by her husband and who, after decades in the role of wife and mother, is beginning to learn to live alone, is enjoying success across Europe and is clearly the most successful comedy by contemporary Irish playwright Geraldine Aron. The Czech production, directed by Jana Kališová and starring Eliška Balzerová in the lead role as well as all other roles, has already had more than 200 sold-out performances. The brilliant performance of Eliška Balzerová certainly plays a major role in the show's success, but so does the fact that My Wonderful Divorce is primarily a great comedy, but also deals with the serious and quite sad vicissitudes of life that are familiar to at least the female part of the population.

Set in Poland in the 1970s, the main character half-heartedly goes about his job as a censor at the state run television station, whilst conducting affairs with nurses, airline pilots, etc. Interesting scene where main character must illegally emigrate to his own country.

Architektu Václavu Holarovi se právě přehoupla padesátka. Má ženu, práci, odrostlého syna. Je poměrně dobře situovaný a poměrně úspěšný. Život se mu celkem vydařil - a tak je poměrně spokojený. Vše plyne v jasných, lety zkušeností dobře vytyčených kolejích. Vše si už umí představit, se vším počítá. Jen s Emilií ne. Je mladá a jemu se zdá i hezká. Fuj, je to tak banální - zná to. Nic dobrého z toho nekouká. Hlavně aby se nic nestalo! Pak by se totiž mohl dozvědět věci, které se dozvědět nechce, protože by k nim musel zaujmout určitý postoj a vyvodit z něj důsledky - a to je nepohodlné... Pak by se totiž mohly udát věci, po kterých netouží, protože by to pro něj mohlo být bolestivé, a co víc, mohl by v jejich světle - nedej bože - vypadat směšně(oficiální text distributora)

This is a documentary about two tragic people slowly and steadily losing their minds. They however managed to keep it a bit funny.
